Tower Hamets Council should adopt Plant-Based Catering

We are calling on the Council to adopt 100% plant-based catering for all its internal events

This simple, yet powerful initiative will ensure that the Council leads by example in reducing its environmental and climate impact.

Tower Hamlets Council has a crucial opportunity to lead the way in tackling climate change.

Right now, the Council does not prioritise plant-based catering for its internal events, and we need your help to change that.

Why This Matters:

  1. In 2019, Tower Hamlets Council was one of the country’s first councils to declare a climate emergency and set a target to reach net-zero by 2025.
However, its current plan overlooks the impact of food consumption.

  2. The Council’s Responsibility

As decision-makers, the Council has the power to influence positive change in the community. By embracing plant-based catering at meetings and events, the Council can:

Lead by example - showing that eating plant-based is nutritious, cost-effective, and the best choice for the planet.

Encourage wider adoption - normalising plant-based eating within the borough and inspiring residents to make more sustainable food choices.

Strengthen climate action - by addressing an often-overlooked area of environmental impact: food consumption.
